Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN THE ELDERLY IN PELIATAN VILLAGE, UBUD SUBDISTRICT, GIANYAR DISTRICT ABSTRACT The elderly are individuals who have reached the age of 60 years or more. In individuals over 60 years of age, the risk of death from heart disease and cerebrovascular disorders increases. However, hypertension treatment can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease. This study aims to determine the relationship between cholesterol levels and blood pressure in the elderly in Peliatan Village, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency. The type of research applied is quantitative research with a correlational design (relationship). This study uses a Cross Sectional approach (relationship and association) because the independent variables and dependent variables that occur in the object of research are measured or collected simultaneously. The sample size was 43 respondents with random sampling technique based on adjustments to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The examination of total cholesterol levels was carried out using the Point of Care Testing easy touch method, while blood pressure used a digital sphygmomanometer. The results of the study were tested with the chi-square test and the p value = 0.000 or smaller than α (0.05). It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between total cholesterol levels and blood pressure in the elderly. Cholesterol levels increase along with an increase in blood pressure. Keywords: Elderly, total cholesterol, blood pressure HUBUNGAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL DENGAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANSIA DI DESA PELIATAN KECAMATAN UBUD KABUPATEN GIANYAR ABSTRAK Lansia adalah individu yang telah mencapai usia 60 tahun atau lebih. Pada individu yang berusia di atas 60 tahun, risiko kematian akibat penyakit jantung dan gangguan serebrovaskular meningkat. Namun, penanganan hipertensi dapat mengurangi insiden penyakit kardiovaskular. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar kolesterol dengan tekanan darah pada lansia di Desa Peliatan Kecamatan Ubud Kabupaten Gianyar. Jenis penelitian yang diterapkan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional (hubungan). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Cross Sectional (hubungan dan asosiasi) karena variabel bebas dan variabel terikat yang terjadi pada objek penelitian diukur atau dikumpulkan secara simultan. Besar sampel adalah 43 responden dengan teknik sampling random berdasarkan penyesuaian terhadap kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Point of Care Testing easy touch, sementara tekanan darah menggunakan sphygmomanometer digital. Hasil penelitian diuji dengan uji chi-square diperoleh hasil nilai p = 0,000 atau lebih kecil dari α (0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar kolesterol total dengan tekanan darah pada lansia. kolesterol meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan tekanan darah.
