Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF E-CIGARETTE CONSUMPTION WITH TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN SMOKERS IN THE BERINGKIT VILLAGES, MENGWI, BADUNG ABSTRACT Background: Electric cigarettes better known as "vape" is a cigarette device that uses it by heating a liquid (e-liquid) to produce steam and can be smoked by the wearer. The nicotine content in e-cigarettes when used in the long term will accumulate in the body which can cause an increase in cholesterol levels. Objective: Determine the relationship of e-cigarette consumption with total cholesterol levels in smokers in the Beringkit Village, Mengwi, Badung. Method: The type of research conducted is quantitative research with analytical observational methods through analytical cross-sectional design by means of cluster random sampling. The samples used were 30 samples obtained through interviews and total cholesterol examination using the CHOD-PAP method. Results: Some respondents had normal total cholesterol levels of 73%. The percentage of respondents with high cholesterol levels was found in the amount of nicotine 0.1 mg in a day and respondents with high total cholesterol levels was found in e-cigarette users within 2 years. The results of the correlation test with the Spearman Rank test obtained Sig(2) values > 0.05, while the relationship test of smoking duration with total cholesterol showed Sig(2) values of <0.05. Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between the amount of nicotine consumed per day and total cholesterol and there was a relationship between smoking duration and total cholesterol levels. Keywords: CHOD-PAP, total cholesterol, e-cigarette HUBUNGAN KONSUMSI ROKOK ELEKTRIK TERHADAP KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PEROKOK DI DESA BERINGKIT, MENGWI, BADUNG ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Rokok elektrik atau lebih dikenal dengan “vape” ini adalah alat rokok yang cara menggunakannya dengan memanaskan cairan (e-liquid) hingga menghasilkan uap dan dapat dihisap oleh pemakainya. Kandungan nikotin pada rokok elektrik bila digunakan dalam jangka panjang akan terakumulasi dalam tubuh yang dapat menyebabkan peningkatan kadar kolesterol. Tujuan : Mengetahui hubungan konsumsi rokok elektrik terhadap kadar kolesterol total pada perokok di Desa Beringkit, Mengwi, Badung. Metode : Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode observasional analitik melalui design cross-sectional analitik dengan cara Cluster random sampling. Sampel yang digunakan 30 sampel yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dan pemeriksaan kolesterol total menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP. Hasil : Sebagian responden memiliki kadar kolesterol total normal sebanyak 73%. Persentase responden dengan kadar kolesterol tinggi ditemukan pada jumlah nikotin 0,1 mg dalam sehari dan responden dengan kadar kolesterol total tinggi ditemukan pada pengguna rokok elektrik dalam waktu 2 tahun. Hasil uji korelasi dengan uji Rank Spearman didapatkan hasil nilai Sig(2) > 0,05 Sedangkan pada uji hubungan lama merokok dengan kolesterol total menunjukan nilai Sig(2) <0,05. Simpulan : Tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara jumlah nikotin yang dikonsumsi per hari dengan kolestrol total dan terdapat hubungan lama merokok dengan kadar kolesterol total.
