Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS AT SANJIWANI HOSPITAL GIANYAR REGENCY ABSTRACT Background: Hypertension is a chronic condition with blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg and may cause complications such as heart disease and stroke. One modifiable risk factor is high cholesterol, which contributes to atherosclerosis and worsens blood pressure. Purpose: as to determine the picture of total cholesterol levels in hypertensive patients in Sanjiwani hospital, Gianyar regency. Method: This study uses a descriptive method with a sample of 42 respondents using Non Probability Sampling technique with Accidental Sampling method. Examination of total cholesterol levels measured using the CHOD - PAP method. Results: Total cholesterol levels in hypertensive patients obtained as much as (21.4%) have normal cholesterol levels, (42.9%) high limit, and (35.7%) high. High total cholesterol levels are most common in characteristics with an age range of 56-65 years (52.0%), males (39.1%), having an excess BMI (50.0%), and having a smoking habit (47.6%). Increased cholesterol levels can be a trigger for high blood pressure because cholesterol that exceeds normal levels can cause blockages in peripheral blood vessels that reduce blood supply to the heart. Conclusion: Most hypertensive patients have total cholesterol levels in the High Limit category. Keywords: cholesterol; hypertensive GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI RSUD SANJIWANI KABUPATEN GIANYAR ABSTRAK Latar belakang : Hipertensi merupakan kondisi kronis dengan peningkatan tekanan darah ≥140/90 mmHg yang menimbulkan komplikasi seperti penyakit jantung dan stroke. Salah satu faktor risiko yang dapat diubah adalah kadar kolesterol tinggi, yang berperan dalam pembentukan aterosklerosis dan memperburuk tekanan darah. Tujuan : Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada penderita hipertensi di RSUD Sanjiwani Kabupaten Gianyar. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 42 responden menggunakan teknik sampling Non Probability Sampling dengan metode Accidental Sampling. Pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total diukur dengan menggunakan metode CHOD- PAP. Hasil : Kadar kolesterol total pada penderita hipertensi diperoleh sebanyak (21,4%) memiliki kadar kolesterol normal, (42,9%) batas tinggi, dan (35,7%) tinggi. Kadar kolesterol total tinggi paling banyak pada karakteristik dengan rentang usia 56 -65 tahun (52,0%), jenis kelamin laki-laki (39,1%), memiliki IMT berlebih (50,0%), dan memiliki kebiasaan merokok (47,6%). Peningkatan kadar kolesterol dapat menjadi pemicu terjadinya tekanan darah tinggi karena kolesterol yang melebihi kadar normal dapat menyebabkan penyumbatan pada pembuluh darah perifer yang mengurangi suplai darah ke jantung. Simpulan: Sebagaian besar penderita hipertensi memiliki kadar kolesterol total pada kategori batas tinggi. Kata kunci : hipertensi; kolesterol
