Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BODY MASS INDEX AND URIC ACID LEVELS IN TRADERS AT BADUNG MARKET DANGIN PURI KANGIN VILLAGE DENPASAR CITY ABSTRACT Background Obesity characterizes excess body fat both in absolute and relative terms which can be measured using body mass index calculations. High uric acid levels in individuals with overweight and obese BMIs are caused by high fat accumulation in the body. Purpose To determine the relationship between body mass index and uric acid levels in traders at Badung Market, Dangin Puri Kangin Village, Denpasar City. Method Quantitative research design with a cross sectional, consisting of 43 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by observation, filling out questionnaires, measuring body height and weight and checking uric acid levels using the spectrophotometric method. Data analysis uses the Spearmen rank test. Result Out of 43 respondents, 37.2% had a body mass index in the obesity category and 60.5% had uric acid levels in the
