Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF FIBER AND FAT INTAKE WITH LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (LDL) LEVELS IN CORONARY HEART PATIENTS ABSTRACT Heart disease, especially Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the degenerative diseases or non-communicable diseases (NCD) which ranks first in developed industrial countries and even developing countries as a disease that causes the highest death in the world (WHO, 2013). In 2020, it is estimated that PTM will account for 73% of the number of deaths. Meanwhile, population deaths due to CHD in the world are 7.4 million and continue to increase every year (WHO, 2012). According to the 2013 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) clinically, CHD is characterized by chest pain or discomfort in the chest or heavy pressure on the chest when climbing, strenuous work or walking in a hurry when walking on flat roads or walking long distances. Angiography and Electrocardiogram (ECG) examinations are used to confirm the occurrence of ischemia which is one of the signs of clinical CHD (Soeharto in Haslindah, 2015). Fiber intake can be said to affect LDL levels. Fiber can reduce cholesterol levels by binding to bile acids and excreted with feces, as a result fat cannot be absorbed because there is no emulsifier and can ultimately inhibit the risk of coronary heart disease (Sugiani, 2004). This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis with literature review research. Literature review or literature review is research that examines or critically reviews the knowledge, ideas, or findings contained in the academic-oriented literature body. Characteristics of coronary heart disease patients based on research conducted do by Karyatin (2019). Stating that coronary heart disease sufferers are more than 35 years old (72.24%) compared to those less than 35 years old (27.35%). Based on studies in journals, the results obtained where the higher fiber consumption, the lower LDL cholesterol levels. Meanwhile, the higher the fat intake, the higher the LDL level.
