Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOTHER’S CHARACTERISTIC AND ATTITUDE WITH INFANT COMPLEMENTARY FEEDING PRACTICES IN THE WORK AREA OF PUSKESMAS ABANG II, KARANGASEM REGENCY ABSTRACT Stunting is a condition of children's growth cause of poor nutrition. In addition to breast milk, the intake of toddlers aged 6-24 months is infant complementary feeding. The study was to determine the relationship between mother’s characteristics which include education, occupation, mother’s age, number of family members and the pattern of giving complementary feeding with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 6-24 months in the working area of Puskesmas Abang II. This research is observational with a cross-sectional design. The research sample was 54 people. The study was conducted in November–December 2021. Analysis technique used was Chi Square and Fisher Excat test analysis to determine the relationship between mother’s characteristics, education, occupation, mother’s age, number of family members with complementary feeding patterns and complementary feeding patterns with stunting. The results was no relationship between education and the pattern of complementary feeding (p=0,670), there was no relationship between the mother's occupation and the pattern of giving complementary feeding (p=0,437), there was no relationship between mother’s age and the pattern of complementary feeding. (p=0,194), there is a relationship between the number of family members and the pattern of complementary feeding (p=0.000) and there is a relationship between the pattern of giving complementary feeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 6 – 24 months (p=0.002) in the working area of the Puskesmas Abang II Karangasem Regency.
