Abstract

Results of riskesdas average of 57.6% Indonesian people experience dental and oral health problems in the form of dental caries and periodontal disease. A significant increase in dental and oral problems occurred in adolescents with an age range of 12-18 years. Knowledge is an external factor that influences the incidence of dental caries. The higher the level of knowledge, the less likely the occurrence of dental caries. Dental health counseling is an effort made to change the behavior of a person, group of people, or society. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of seventh grade students of Ganesha Middle School about dental caries before and after being given counseling in 2022. This study was a descriptive study with a survey design. The number of respondents as many as 38 students, the research was conducted in March. The data collection method is through a google form (pre-test) before being given counseling, then given counseling through zoom and ending with giving a post-test via google form as an evaluation. The results showed that the knowledge before being given counseling was in the good category as many as 11 people (28.95%), while the knowledge after being given counseling was in the very good category as many as 38 people (100%). The average knowledge before being given counseling was 64.60% with sufficient category, while the average knowledge after being given counseling was 90.26 with very good criteria. The conclusion from this research is the percentage and average knowledge of seventh grade students of Ganesha Junior High School before and after being given counseling increases. Keywords: Dental Caries, Adolescents, Knowledge, Counseling Hasil riskesdas rata-rata sebanyak 57,6% masyarakat Indonesia mengalami permasalahan kesehatan gigi dan mulut berupa karies gigi dan penyakit periodontal. Peningkatan permasalahan gigi dan mulut secara signifikan terjadi pada remaja dengan rentang usia 12-18 tahun. pengetahuan merupakan faktor luar yang mempengaruhi kejadian karies gigi. Semakin tinggi tingkat pengetahuannya maka semakin kecil kemungkinan terjadinya karies gigi. Penyuluhan kesehatan gigi merupakan upaya-upaya yang dilakukan untuk merubah perilaku seseorang, sekelompok orang, maupun masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan siswa kelas VII SMP Ganesha tentang karies gigi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan pada tahun 2022. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain survei. Jumlah responden sebanyak 38 siswa, penelitian dilakukan pada bulan maret. Metode pengumpulan data yaitu melalui google form (pre-test) sebelum diberikan penyuluhan, kemudian diberikan penyuluhan melalui zoom dan diakhiri dengan memberikan post-test melalui google form sebagai evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan sebelum diberikan penyuluhan dengan kategori baik sebanyak 11 orang (28,95%), sedangkan pengetahuan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan dengan kategori sangat baik sebanyak 38 orang (100%). Rata-rata pengetahuan sebelum diberikan penyuluhan 64,60% dengan kategori cukup, sedangkan rata-rata pengetahuan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan 90,26 dengan kriteria sangat baik. Simpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah persentase dan rata-rata pengetahuan siswa kelas VII SMP Ganesha sebelum dan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan menjadi meningkat.
