Abstract

ABSTRACT Dental caries is a major problem of dental and mouth health, especially in primary school-aged children. Indicator of community behavior of dental and mouth health is its variable of dentalbrushing. This research aimed to find out the overview of permanent dental caries and dental brushing skills on fourth and fifth grade students of SDN 3 Ketewel, Sukawati District Gianyar Regency in 2018. It was descriptive research with survey design by using the total population of 48 students. The result of this research was 28 students (58.3%) who suffered permanent dental caries and 20 students (41.7%) who had healthy teeth. The average of permanent dental caries of 1.1 was very low. There were 34 people (70.8%) with guidance-neededcriteria. There was a student who had very good dental-brushing criteria andhad no permanent dental caries, 34 students (70.8%) whose tooth brushing skill with guidance neededcriteria,17 students who did not have permanent dental caries, and 17 students who had permanent dental caries.The students who had permanent dental caries were 28 students (58%)with average of permanent dental caries of 1.1 which was in very low category. The total of 34 students (70.8%) had tooth brushing skill with guidance-needed criteria, 17 students who did not have permanent dental caries, and 17 students who had permanent dental caries.
