Abstract
DESCRIPTION TOOTH BRUSHING BEHAVIOR AND CARIES PERMANENT FIRST MOLAR IN 5th GRADE (Study conducted at SDN 1 Bajera Selemadeg District Tabanan Regency in 2019) ABSTRACT Self-care behavior of the community in maintaining oral health the indicator is variable when brushing teeth while brushing teeth is the primary precaution recommended. Dental and oral health problems, especially in elementary school-age children are dental caries. Permanent first molar teeth are susceptible to caries because of their anatomical shape is the ideal place for the growth of bacteria that cause caries. This study aims to obtain an overview of tooth brushing behavior and caries of permanent first molars in fifth grade students in Bajera Elementary School 1 in Selemadeg District, Tabanan Regency in 2019. This type of research is descriptive research, using a total population of 40 people. Data collected in the form of primary data and secondary data. The results of the study showed that there are no students who behave tooth brushing with very good criteria, good criteria for two students (5%), sufficient criteria for four students (10%), and the criteria needed the guidance of 34 students (85%). A total of 21students (52.5%) experienced caries on their permanent first molars. The average caries of permanent first molars is as big as one. The average caries of permanent first molars is based on tooth brushing behavior with sufficient criteria of 0.75, criteria need the guidance of 1.09, and there are no caries of permanent first molars in students who behave with tooth brushing with very good and good criteria. The conclusion of this study is most students have tooth brushing behavior with criteria that need guidance and some students have caries in their first permanent molar teeth.
