Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN COFFEE DRINKERS IN SIDAKARYA VILLAGE DENPASAR SELATAN DISTRICT ABSTRACT Coffee is a popular drink in Indonesia, cafestol and kahweol compounds can be found in coffee bean oil where these two compounds can increase cholesterol levels in the blood by inhibiting the beta oxidation mechanism thus preventing the breakdown of cholesterol into energy. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of total cholesterol levels in coffee drinkers in Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar District. The method used is the type of research used is descriptive research with purposive sampling technique. The samples used were 43 samples obtained through filling out questionnaires and checking total blood cholesterol levels using the POCT method. The results of this study indicate that, of the 43 coffee drinkers in Sidakarya Village, 19 people (44%) have normal category Total Cholesterol levels, the threshold category is 11 people (26%), and the high category is 13 people (30%). Where the high category of Total Cholesterol Levels is most prevalent in the age of 46-65 years, male gender, frequency of consuming coffee 3-4 cups a day, and length of consuming coffee for > 6 years. The conclusion of this study is that most coffee drinkers in Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar District have normal total cholesterol levels. Keywords: Total cholesterol level, coffee drinkers GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PEMINUM KOPI DI DESA SIDAKARYA KECAMATAN DENPASAR SELATAN ABSTRAK Kopi merupakan minuman yang populer di Indonesia, Senyawa kafestol dan kahweol dapat ditemukan pada minyak biji kopi dimana kedua senyawa ini dapat meningkatkan kadar kolesterol pada darah dengan cara menghambat mekanisme beta oksidasi sehingga mencegah pemecahan kolesterol menjadi energi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada peminum kopi di Desa Sidakarya Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan Teknik purposive sampling. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 43 sampel yang diperoleh melalui pengisian kuesioner dan pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total darah dengan menggunakan metode POCT. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, dari 43 orang peminum kopi di Desa Sidakarya memiliki kadar Kolesterol Total kategori normal sebanyak 19 orang (44%), kategori ambang batas sebanyak 11 orang (26%), dan kategori tinggi sebanyak 13 orang (30%). Dimana Kadar Kolesterol Total kategori tinggi paling banyak terdapat pada usia 46-65 tahun, Jenis kelamin laki-laki, frekuensi mengonsumsi kopi 3-4 gelas sehari, dan lama mengonsumsi kopi selama > 6 tahun. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah sebagian besar peminum kopi di Desa Sidakarya Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan memiliki kadar kolesterol total normal.
