Abstract

OVERVIEW OF KNOWLEDGE AND TOOTH BRUSHING SKILLS OF FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SDN 2 KAYANGAN, NORTH LOMBOK IN 2026 ABSTRACK This study was motivated by the low level of toothbrushing skills among elementary school children despite their adequate level of knowledge. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge and toothbrushing skills among fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Kayangan, North Lombok, in 2026. The research used a descriptive quantitative design with a univariate statistical approach. The sample in this study consisted of 35 students selected using total sampling. The results showed that most students had a moderate level of knowledge, with 19 students (54.3%) in the moderate category, 12 students (34.3%) in the good category, and 4 students (11.4%) in the poor category, with an average knowledge score of 72.7% (moderate category). Meanwhile, most students’ toothbrushing skills were categorized as needing guidance, with 21 students (60%), followed by 9 students (25.7%) in the moderate category, 3 students (8.6%) in the very good category, and 2 students (5.7%) in the good category, with an average skill score of 52.0% (need-guidance category). The conclusion of this study showed that the level of students’ knowledge was mostly in the moderate category, involving 19 students (54.3%), while the toothbrushing skills of 21 students (60%) were still categorized as needing guidance.
