Abstract

A DESCRIPTION OF ORAL AND DENTAL HYGIENE AMONG ADOLESCENT SMOKERS AT SEKA TERUNA TERUNI BANJAR SANGGING DAWAN KLOD KLUNGKUNG IN 2026 ABSTRACT Oral and dental hygiene is an essential component of overall health, particularly among adolescent smokers who are at higher risk of plaque and calculus accumulation. This study aimed to describe the oral hygiene status of adolescent smokers in Seka Teruna Teruni Banjar Sangging Dawan Klod Klungkung in 2026. A descriptive research design was used with a sample of 35 respondents selected through non-probability sampling. Data were collected through direct examination using the OHI-S index and structured interviews regarding smoking habits. The results shows that the majority of respondents had a moderate OHI-S criteria, consisting of 25 people (71%), followed by good criteria with seven people (20%), and poor criteria with three people (9%). Based on daily cigarette consumption, most respondents were light smokers (52%), followed by moderate smokers (37%) and heavy smokers (11%). The highest average OHI-S score was found among heavy smokers (2.57), which falls into the moderate category. The conclusion of this research are, most adolescent smokers have moderate oral hygiene status, with a tendency for higher OHI-S scores as smoking intensity increases. Keywords: Oral and dental hygiene; OHI-S; adolescent smokers GAMBARAN KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT REMAJA PEROKOK PADA SEKA TERUNA TERUNI BANJAR SANGGING DAWAN KLOD KLUNGKUNG TAHUN 2026 ABSTRAK Kebersihan gigi dan mulut merupakan bagian penting dari kesehatan umum, terutama pada remaja perokok yang berisiko mengalami penumpukan plak dan kalkulus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kebersihan gigi dan mulut remaja perokok pada Seka Teruna Teruni Banjar Sangging Dawan Klod Klungkung tahun 2026. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif dengan jumlah sampel 35 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui pemeriksaan langsung menggunakan indeks OHI-S serta wawancara terstruktur terkait kebiasaan merokok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki kriteria OHI-S sedang yaitu sebanyak 25 orang (71%), diikuti kriteria baik tujuh orang (20%) dan kriteria buruk tiga orang (9%). Berdasarkan jumlah rokok yang dikonsumsi perhari, mayoritas responden merupakan perokok ringan sebanyak 18 orang (52%), perokok sedang 13 orang (37%), dan perokok berat empat orang (11%). Rata-rata OHI-S tertinggi ditemukan pada perokok berat yaitu 2,57 (kategori sedang). Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas kebersihan gigi dan mulut remaja perokok berada pada kategori sedang, dengan kecenderungan nilai OHI-S meningkat seiring dengan tingkat konsumsi rokok.
