Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF NATRIUM CONSUMPTION LEVEL, NUTRITIONAL STATUS, AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS ABSTRACT Hypertension or better known as high blood pressure, is a condition in which the blood vessels constantly increase in pressure. Blood is carried from the heart to all parts of the body in the blood vessels. Blood pressure is created by the force of blood pushing against the walls of blood vessels (arteries) as they are pumped by the heart. The higher the pressure, the harder the heart has to pump. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sodium consumption level, nutritional status, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This research is a literature review which was conducted for 2 months, from March to April 2021 using qualitative research methods. The research subjects were hypertensive patients, male, female and aged ≥15-70 years. The research data includes data on the characteristics of the respondents (gender, age), hypertension status, images of sodium consumption levels, and a description of the nutritional status of hypertensive patients obtained from the articles studied then tabulated and analyzed qualitatively. The literature review found that the average sodium intake in the sample was in excess category and the nutritional status of hypertensive patients on average was in the category of overweight.Based on the analysis of 9 articles reviewed, 4 articles stated that there was a relationship between sodium consumption and blood pressure in hypertensive patients and 6 articles stated that there was a relationship between nutritional status and blood pressure in hypertensive patients with a value (p =<0.05) Keywords: Blood Pressure, Sodium Intake, Nutritional Status
