Abstract
Dental hygiene is an integral part of health in general. In addition teeth are one of the digestive organs that play an important role in the process of masticating food so that dental health maintenance is important. Dental and oral diseases that are commonly found in the community are dental caries and tooth supporting tissue diseases. One alternative in efforts to improve dental and oral health is through health centers or dental polyclinics. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of tooth decay in patients visiting the Dental Polyclinic of Udayana Hospital Level II Denpasar in 2018. This type of research is a descriptive study using a total population. The data used are secondary data collected from the daily dental polyclinic register of the Udayana Level II Denpasar Hospital in 2018. The results showed that based on gender, the frequency of patients visiting the Udayana Level II Denpasar Hospital dental polyclinic in Denpasar was more women than men, namely 54% in women and 46% in men. Based on age, most caries occur at the age of 12-25 years (adolescence) as many as 164 people (37.7%) and the lowest at the age of 65 and over as many as three people (0.7%). Based on the type of caries the highest frequency of dental caries occurred in the case of GP, which amounted to 54.4% (277 cases), then Pulpitis was 43.1% (220 cases) and the least was IP, which was 0.6% (three cases). On average, patients who visited the dental polyclinic at the Udayana Level II Hospital experienced caries.
