Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF DENTAL AND ORAL HYGIENE OF YOUTH SMOKERS AT BANJAR SARI UBUNG 2025 ABSTRACT Oral and dental health is part of general health. Oral hygiene refers to the condition in which teeth are free from plaque and calculus. Oral and dental hygiene levels can be measured using the Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S). This study describes the oral and dental hygiene of youth smokers in Banjar Sari, Ubung, North Denpasar in 2025. It is a descriptive study involving 35 adolescent smokers. Results showed 16 adolescents (46%) had good OHI-S scores, 19 (54%) had moderate scores, and none had poor scores. The highest average OHI-S score was found in adolescents smoking for 6–10 years, at 1.88 (moderate). Based on daily cigarette consumption, 20 adolescents (57%) were light smokers, 14 (40%) moderate, and 1 (3%) heavy. The Conclusion is the most adolescent smokers have moderate oral and dental hygiene. Keywords: Oral and dental hygiene, adolescent smokers, OHI-S, smoking duration, cigarette consumption GAMBARAN TENTANG KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT PADA REMAJA PEROKOK BANJAR SARI UBUNG TAHUN 2025 ABSTRAK Kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari kesehatan secara umum. Kebersihan gigi dan mulut adalah suatu keadaan di mana gigi terbebas dari plak dan kalkulus. Kebersihan gigi dan mulut dapat diukur dengan indeks yang disebut Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kebersihan gigi dan mulut pada remaja perokok di Banjar Sari, Ubung, Denpasar Utara tahun 2025. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 35 remaja perokok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 16 remaja (46%) memiliki nilai OHI-S baik, 19 remaja (54%) sedang, dan tidak ada yang tergolong buruk. Rata-rata nilai OHI-S tertinggi diperoleh oleh remaja yang merokok selama 6–10 tahun dengan nilai 1,88 dan tergolong sedang. Berdasarkan jumlah rokok yang dihisap per hari, 20 remaja (57%) tergolong perokok ringan, 14 remaja (40%) perokok sedang, dan 1 remaja (3%) perokok berat. Kesimpulannya adalah sebagian besar remaja perokok memiliki kebersihan gigi dan mulut dalam kategori sedang. Kata Kunci: Kebersihan gigi dan mulut, remaja perokok, OHI-S, lama merokok, jumlah rokok
