Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-EMPOWERMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE WORKING AREA OF UPTD PUSKESMAS I DENPASAR BARAT 2025 ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus occurs when the body is unable to properly process blood sugar, caused by problems in insulin function, which can negatively affect the quality of life of people with diabetes. One effort that can be made to support and improve quality of life is self-empowerment. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-empowerment and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Work Area of UPTD Puskesmas I West Denpasar in 2025. The method used is a non-experimental quantitative approach, with a correlational research design using a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique with a total of 100 research subjects. Data collection was carried out using the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL) instrument and the Diabetes Empowerment Scale–Life Function (DES-L). The results of this study show that the majority of the research subjects had a high level of self-empowerment, namely 59 people (59%), and most of the subjects had a good quality of life, namely 51 people (51%). A significant relationship was found with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.620 between self-empowerment and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Work Area of UPTD Puskesmas I West Denpasar in 2025. Keywords: self-empowerment, QOL, T2DM   HUBUNGAN SELF EMPOWERMENT DENGAN KUALITAS HIDUP PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE 2 DI WILAYAH KERJA UPTD PUSKESMAS I DENPASAR BARAT TAHUN 2025 ABSTRAK Diabetes melitus tipe 2 terjadi ketika kondisi tubuh tidak dapat mengolah gula darah dengan benar, yang disebabkan oleh masalah dalam fungsi insulin yang bisa berdampak buruk pada kualitas hidup penderita DM. Salah satu upaya yang bisa dilakukan untuk meningkatkan menunjang kualitas hidup yaitu self empowerment. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan self empowerment dengan kualitas hidup pada penderita diabetes mellitus type 2 di Wilayah Kerja UPTD Puskesmas I Denpasar Barat Tahun 2025. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif non-eksperimen, dengan desain penelitian korelasi pendekatan cross sectional. Pengambilan sempel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 100 subjek penelitian. Pengumpulan data menggunakan World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL) dan Diabetes Empowerment Scale- Life Function (DES-L). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar subjek penelitian memiliki tingkat self empowerment tinggi yaitu sebanyak 59 orang (59%) dan sebagian besar subjek penelitian memiliki memiliki tingkat kualitas hidup baik yaitu sebanyak 51 orang (51%). Kesimpulannya terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan nilai p= 0,000 (p<0,05) dan nilai koefisien korelasi (r)= 0,620 antara self empowerment dengan kualitas hidup pada penderita diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Wilayah Kerja UPTD Puskesmas I Denpasar Barat Tahun 2025.
