Abstract

THE EFFECT OF EMPHATIC LOVE THERAPY ON REDUCING DEPRESSION LEVELS IN DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS AT PUSKESMAS I SOUTH DENPASAR YEAR 2024 ABSTRACT Currently, people throughout the world are facing a global challenge regarding a health problem that poses a risk to a person's quality of life, called diabetes mellitus. DM patients tend to have disturbances in feelings such as dysphoric affect or loss of joy due to the effects of the disease which causes psychological disturbances, one of which is depression. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of empathic love therapy on reducing the level of depression in diabetes mellitus patients at South Denpasar Health Center I in 2024. The research method is one group pre-post test design. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. The sample size was 30 people using the Pocock formula. The research instrument used a depression measurement scale sheet that had been modified from Beck's theory. Test data normality using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Test the hypothesis with Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed that before being given empathic love therapy, 16 people (53.3%) had mild depression, 11 people (36.7%) had moderate depression and 3 people (10.0%) had severe depression. After treatment, the results showed mild depression in 23 people (76.7%) and moderate depression in 7 people (23.3%). After analysis, it was found that p = 0.000 < alpha (0.05). In conclusion, there is an influence of empathic love therapy on reducing the level of depression in diabetes mellitus patients at Community Health Center 1 Denpasar Selatan in 2024 with p = 0.000. Pasien DM cenderung memiliki gangguan pada perasaan seperti afek disforik atau kehilangan kegembiraan karena efek penyakit yang diderita sehingga mengganggu psikologis, salah satunya depresi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh empathic love therapy terhadap penurunan tingkat depresi pada pasien diabetes melitus di Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan tahun 2024. Metode dengan jenis penelitian one group pre-post test design. Teknik sampling menggunakan non-probability sampling dengan purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel 30 orang menggunakan rumus Pocock. Instrument penelitian menggunakan lembar skala ukur depresi yang telah dimodifikasi dari teori Beck. Uji normalitas data menggunakan uji Shapiro-wilk. Uji hipotesis dengan Paired Sample T-Test. Hasilnya menunjukkan sebelum diberikan empathic love therapy didapatkan depresi ringan 16 orang (53,3%), depresi sedang 11 orang (36,7%) dan depresi berat 3 orang (10,0%). Setelah perlakuan, didapatkan hasil depresi ringan 23 orang (76,7%) dan depresi sedang 7 orang (23,3%). Setelah dianalisis didapatkan p = 0,000 < alpha (0,05). Kesimpulannya ada pengaruh empathic love therapy terhadap penurunan tingkat depresi pada pasien diabetes melitus di Puskesmas 1 Denpasar Selatan tahun 2024 dengan p = 0,000.
