Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP OF FAMILY SUPPORT TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF ELDERLY WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE SOUTH DENPASAR HEALTH CENTER AREA 1 ABSTRACT Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood glucose due to decreased insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells and/or impaired insulin function or insulin resistance. Diabetes cases in Bali Province rank second in the top 10 Advanced Outpatient Diseases (RJTL). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and the quality of life of the elderly with type 2 DM in the South Denpasar Health Center Area 1. The research method used in this study was correlational descriptive with a cross-sectional design presented in a cross table and then analyzed using statistical tests to determine the strength of the relationship and the direction of the relationship between variables. The results of this study are that there is a relationship between family support and the quality of life of elderly people with Type 2 DM which is shown at a p value < (0.05). with a correlation coefficient value of 0.517. From the results of this study it was suggested that family members, especially the husband/wife/child of the respondent, participate in providing family support (informational support, emotional support, appreciation support, instrumental support) in order to achieve a good quality of life for the elderly. For public health center to socialize the importance of providing family support to the elderly with type 2 DM. Keywords: Family Support ; Quality of Life ; Elderly ; Diabetes Mellitus HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA TERHADAP KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA DENGAN PENYAKIT DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI WILAYAH UPTD PUSKESMAS I DENPASAR SELATAN TAHUN 2023 ABSTRAK Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 adalah penyakit gangguan metabolik yang ditandai oleh kenaikan gula darah akibat penurunan sekresi insulin oleh sel beta pankreas dan atau gangguan fungsi insulin atau resistensi insulin. Kasus diabetes di Provinsi Bali menempati urutan kedua dalam 10 besar penyakit Rawat Jalan Tingkat Lanjutan (RJTL). Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Hubungan dukungan keluarga terhadap kualitas hidup lansia dengan penyakit DM tipe 2 di wilayah UPTD Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan. Metode penelitian yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif korelasional dengan rancangan cross sectional yang disajikan dalam tabel silang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik parametrik untuk mengetahui kuat hubungan maupun arah hubungan antar variabel. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu terdapat hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kualitas hidup lansia penderita DM Tipe 2 yang ditunjukkan pada nilai p < (0.05). dengan nilai koefisien korelasi 0.517. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut disarankan anggota keluarga khususnya suami/istri/anak responden, agar ikut berpartisipasi dalam pemberian dukungan keluarga (dukungan informasi, dukungan emosional, dukungan penghargaan, dukungan instrumental) agar tercapainya Lansia dengan kualitas hidup yang baik. Bagi Puskesmas agar melakukan sosialisasi pentingnya pemberian dukungan keluarga terhadap lansia dengan penyakit DM tipe 2.
