Abstract

THE DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS AT THE ELDERLY IN TEMESI VILLAGE GIANYAR REGENCY ABSTRACT Background: total cholesterol is the amount of cholesterol carried in all cholesterol-carrying particles in the blood, including HDL (High Density Lipoprotein), LDL (Low Density lipoprotein), and VLDL. Complex changes in the elderly often cause health problems, one of which is an increase in blood cholesterol levels. Total cholesterol in the blood increases with the aging process. The purpose: of this study was to determine the description of total cholesterol levels in the elderly in Temesi Village, Gianyar Regency. The research method: is a descriptive research conducted in January – May 2022 in Temesi Village, Gianyar Regency with a sample size of 33 respondents obtained by random sampling technique. Total cholesterol levels were measured using Point Of Care Testing (POCT) method. The results: of high total cholesterol levels were more commonly found in female respondents as many as (12.1%), in nutritional status with overweight categories as much as (9.1%), the elderly had less physical activity (12.1%), not smoked as much as (15.2%), and did not take drugs as much as (9.1%). Conslusion: the elderly had normal total cholesterol levels (57.6%), moderately high total cholesterol levels (27.3%), and high total cholesterol levels (15.2%). Keywords: Elderly, total cholesterol, POCT GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA LANSIA DI DESA TEMESI KABUPATEN GIANYAR ABSTRAK Latar belakang: kolesterol total adalah jumlah kolesterol yang dibawa dalam semua partikel pembawa kolesterol dalam darah, termasuk HDL (High Density Lipoprotein), LDL (Low Density lipoprotein), dan VLDL. Perubahan yang kompleks pada lanjut usia seringkali menimbulkan masalah kesehatan, salah satunya adalah peningkatan kadar kolesterol darah. Kolesterol total dalam darah meningkat seiring dengan proses penuaan. Tujuan: penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada lansia di Desa Temesi, Kabupaten Gianyar. Metode: penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan pada bulan Januari – Mei 2022 di Desa Temesi, Kabupaten Gianyar dengan besar sampel sebanyak 33 responden yang diperoleh dengan teknik random sampling. Kadar kolesterol total diukur menggunakan metode Point Of Care Testing (POCT). Hasil: kadar kolesterol total tinggi lebi¬h banyak ditemukan pada responden perempuan yaitu sebanyak (12,1%), pada status gizi dengan kategori berat badan lebih sebanyak (9,1%), lansia memiliki aktivitas fisik kurang sebanyak (12,1%), tidak merokok sebanyak (15,2%), dan tidak mengonsumsi obat-obatan sebanyak (9,1%). Simpulan: lansia memiliki kadar kolesterol total normal (57,6%), kadar kolesterol total cukup tinggi (27,3%), dan kadar kolesterol total tinggi (15,2%). Kata kunci: Lansia, kolesterol total, POCT
