Abstract
Early Initiation of Breastfeeding is the beginning of success in offering exclusive breastfeeding. The Early Breastfeeding Initiation Program can save at least 30,000 Indonesian babies who die within 1 hour of birth. Implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding is still low in Indonesia. The implementation of early breastfeeding initiation cannot be separated from the factors that encourage, including caused by the level of education, family support, knowledge, attitudes, experiences and perceptions of mothers who are lacking, and are influenced by the behavior and actions of midwives. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about early initiation of breastfeeding at the Tembuku II Public Health Center. This type of research is analytic correlation with a cross sectional approach. The population of all pregnant women in the second and third trimesters. The sample size is 55 people. Data analysis with chi square. The results of the study were 83.6%) of the respondents were in the age group of 20 years to 35 years. Almost half (47.3%) of respondents have a high school education most of the respondents (63.6%) are housewives, and most of the respondents (60.5%) are multigravida mothers. Almost half of the respondents (49.1%) have sufficient knowledge about Early Initiation of Breastfeeding. Most of the respondents (65.5%) had a positive attitude about BMI. There is a relationship between maternal knowledge and the attitude of pregnant women about early initiation of breastfeeding at the Tembuku II Health Center with a p value of 0.029. For midwives to improve providing health education education to pregnant women, especially about Early Initiation of Breastfeeding.
