Abstract
Breast milk (ASI) is the best food for babies up to 6 months of age. Lack of knowledge of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding can lead to early supplementary feeding so that mothers do not give exclusive breastfeeding to their babies. Providing information about exclusive breastfeeding to pregnant women can be done by providing breastfeeding counseling. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of breastfeeding counseling on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about exclusive breastfeeding. This research is a quasi-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest design approach. The research was carried out in the work area of the Abiansemal I Health Center. The sample was taken using accidental sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire. The results of the Wilcoxon Test statistical test showed an r value of -4.768 with a p value of 0.000 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means that there is a difference in knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding after breastfeeding counseling. The results of the Wilcoxon Test statistical test showed an r value of -4.583 with a p value of 0.000 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means that there are differences in attitudes about exclusive breastfeeding after breastfeeding counseling. Breastfeeding counseling for pregnant women is effective in increasing knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women towards exclusive breastfeeding. It is hoped that this research can provide knowledge for mothers in exclusive breastfeeding to infants and fully motivate mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding by following breastfeeding counseling.
