Abstract
FACTORS AFFECTING THE USUAL LEFTOVERS IN HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS ABSTRACT Leftovers are the amount of food that is not eaten after the food is served. The patient's remaining food is one of the indicators used to evaluate the success of hospital nutritional services. The purpose of this study was to describe the factors affecting the usual leftovers in hospitalized patients. The type of research used is descriptive, a method that serves to analyze or describe a research result. The subjects used in the literature review are 5 journals concerning the patient's food waste in the hospital. Activities that include searching, reading, and sorting out research studies and library materials that contain theories relevant to the research to be carried out. Literature analysis is carried out by summarizing the results of research in journals that are relevant to the problems discussed. The results of this study indicate that the high amount of ordinary food waste in hospitalized patients is caused by external factors including food color, food texture, food served form, food portion, and food taste. The appearance of the food, the portion of the food and the taste of the food must be really considered, so that the patient can finish the food that has been given.
