Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHER'S OCCUPATIONAL STATUS AND AGE OF SUPPLEMENTARY FEEDING WITH BREAST MILK WITH NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF Toddlers ABSTRACT Complimentary food for breast milk is food given to toddlers aged six months because breast milk is no longer sufficient to meet the nutritional needs of toddlers. Inappropriate complementary feeding can lead to malnutrition in toddlers, so care must be taken to optimize their growth and development. More than 50% of deaths of children under five are related to malnutrition and two-thirds of these deaths are caused by inappropriate feeding practices for infants and toddlers (UNICEF, 2012). Inappropriate complementary feeding is caused by various factors, one of which is the mother's occupation. The purpose of writing this thesis is to determine the relationship between the mother's employment status and the age of giving complementary feeding with the nutritional status of children under five. This research is a literature review research. The type of data collected is in the form of data containing variables of maternal employment status, age of complementary feeding, and nutritional status of children under five. The results of the study showed that working mothers ranged from 27%-66.7% and those who did not work 33.3%-73%. Mothers who gave complementary feeding at the appropriate age (≥ 6 months) ranged from 39%-66.7%, those who gave inappropriate complementary feeding (< 6 months) 33.3%-61%. The nutritional status of children under five is categorized as good nutrition 52%92.7%, malnutrition 22.2%-48%, overweight 1.9%-10.0% and obesity 12.0%. There are two research articles that state that there is a relationship between maternal employment status and the age of complementary feeding and one journal states that there is no relationship between maternal employment status and the age of complementary feeding. There are eight journals which state that there is a relationship between the age of complementary feeding and the nutritional status of children under five.
