Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF FOOD DIVERSITY, ENERGY AND PROTEIN INTAKE WITH CHRONIC ENERGY DEFICIENCY (CED) IN PREGNANT WOMEN ABSTRACT Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a condition of lack of energy and protein and take place continuously resulting in health problems. Nutritional needs can be met when consuming a variety of foods. This study aims to determine the relationship of food diversity, energy intake and protein with the incidence of CED in pregnant women. This study is a literature review that collects data related to the topic of food diversity, energy intake and protein with the incidence of CED in pregnant women. Data is collected from full-text articles through Google scholar, ProQuest and Research Gate databases published in the last 5 years. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The results of the study of 10 articles, showed the prevalence of CED in pregnant women ranged from 8.5%–70%. Low food diversity of pregnant women (< 5/6 food groups) ranged from 2.4%–94.1%. Pregnant women with inadequate energy intake (<80% RDA) ranged from 29.6%–97.6% and inadequate protein intake (<80% RDA) ranged from 11.3%–95%. Based on the results of the analysis, there is a relationship of food diversity with CED in pregnant women and there is a relationship of energy and protein intake with CED in pregnant women.
