Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF MOTHER'S CHARACTERISTICS AND PREMATURE INFANT WEIGHT INCREASING AFTER RELACTATION The study was conducted in the Cempaka I Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level II Sanglah Central Hospital Denpasar in 2020 ABSTRACT The prevalence of preterm birth in the world ranges from 5-18% of all babies born. According to World Health Organization (WHO), premature babies are babies born before 37 weeks gestation. Premature babies born at less than 34 weeks gestation have a weak suction reflex so that the fulfillment of enteral nutrition is carried out through an orogastric tube (OGT). Efforts that can be made to divert the route of nutrition through OGT to direct breastfeeding are by doing relactation. The success of relactation can be assessed by an increase the baby's weight. The success rate of relactation varies from person to person, which is also influenced by the characteristics of the mother. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the mother and premature infant weight increasing after relactation in Cempaka 1 Room NICU level II Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. This research method is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Data taken from medical records include maternal characteristics including age, parity and education level, as well as premature infant weight increasing after relactation until the baby is discharged from the hospital. The sampling of this research was conducted by using non probability sampling technique, namely the total sampling of 80 samples. The results showed that the most maternal characteristics were based on the age of 21-40 years about 81,3%, the highest level of maternal education was secondary education 67,5%, and based on parity the highest number was found in multiparous 56,2%. The average weight of premature babies before relactation was 1761 ± 172.41 grams. The average weight of premature babies after relactation was 1882 ± 165,65 grams. The average weight gain of premature babies after relactation was 20 ± 10.93 grams/day. The average length of implementation of relactation was 6 ± 2.87 days. The conclusion of this study is that the relactation carried out in Cempaka Room 1 NICU Level II Sanglah Hospital Denpasar in 2020 can achieve an increase in the weight of premature babies according to the target. The results of this study are expected to improve the quality of hospital services, especially in the care of premature babies in increasing body weight by doing relactation Key words: relactation; premature baby weight gain; mother’s caracteristics
