Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF KNOWLEDGE LEVEL ABOUT DIABETIC ULCER IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS AT PADANGAJI VILAGE IN 2021 ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Various complications can occur in DM patients, one of which is Diabetic Ulcer. Diabetic ulcers are defined as infection, ulceration under the ankle due to reduced capillary or arterial circulation, neuropathy and foot deformities. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of knowledge about diabetic ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus at Padangaji village. The type of research is descriptive research with quantitative descriptive approach and cross sectional research design. The research was conducted on 5-7 April 2021 with a sample of 34 respondents and used a non-probability sampling technique by selecting total sampling. The results of this study showed that the level of knowledge about ulcers was mostly in the good category as much as 50.0%, the level of knowledge in the sufficient category was 38.2% and the level of knowledge was less than 11.8%. From this research recomends that further research can be done with a larger number of samples and there needs to be more research on the analysis of characteristic relationships with knowledge levels.
