Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOOTH BRUSHING BEHAVIOR AND DENTAL CARIES IN PEOPLE WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT IN PANTI SOSIAL BINA NETRA MAHATMIYA BALI YEAR 2018 ABSTRACT Health behavior is divided into three namely knowledge, attitude, and action. Tooth brushing is one of the indicators to mesure self care behavior specialy oral and dental health. Not knowing how to brushing teeth properly can cause tooth and mouth disease. Caries is a major dental and oral health problem. The prevalence of caries in people with visual impairment tends to be higher. This research is descriptive research which is to know description of tooth brushing bevahior and dental caries in people with visual impairment in Panti Sosial Bina Netra Mahatmiya Bali year 2018. The sample of this research uses a total population of 50 people. The result showed the teeth brusing behavior with very good criteria 6 people (12%), good criteria 7 people (14%), enough criteria 11 people (22%), and need guidance criteria 26 people (52%). The most are on the need guidance criteria. The people with visual impairment who affected of dental caries by 42 people (84%). The average caries on the people with visual impairment is 3,04. The average dental caries based on the tooth brushing behavior with very good criteria 0,16, good criteria 3,14, enough criteria 3,63, and need guidance criteria 3,42. The result of this reaserch showed the average caries based on the teeth brushing behavior tends to increase but decreases on the need guidance criteria.
