Abstract
Background: Bali Tangi traditional body scrub is a cosmetic product that uses natural material extracts without the addition of synthetic materials that produced by PT. Bali Tangi. The various ingredients that are mixed on the Bali Tangi traditional body scrub, are secondary metabolite and phenolic compounds that beneficial for the skin. Secondary metabolites that are useful for the skin are alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids/steroids, tannins, quinones, and saponins. The purpose of this study are to decide the phytochemical characteristics and total phenols of Bali Tangi traditional body scrub. Method: The study use descriptive method. Phytochemical screening was performed by color test and total phenol determination was done by spectrophotometry method using Folin-Cicalteu phenol reagent. Result: Based on phytochemical screenings in each variant Bali Tangi traditional body scrub show a positive result with different secondary metabolites contains. Bali Tangi traditional body scrubs which contains the highest secondary metabolites are green tea body scrub, chocolate body scrub, and boreh body scrub. And Bali Tangi traditional body scrubs that contain at least the sekuder metabolites are avocado body scrub, milk body scrub, and sandalwood body scrub. Result: The total phenol analysis results showed in Bali Tangi traditional body scrub, the range is 21.504 ± 0.076 mg/L GAE to 286.47 ± 0.76 mg/L GAE. Conclution: Bali Tangi traditional body scrub has active ingredients that are beneficial for the skin health. The highest total phenol was found in green tea body scrub and lowest found in avocado body scrub.
