Abstract
The school environment is an extension of the family's hand in laying the basis of healthy life behavior for schoolchildren. The population of 6-12 - year - old schoolchildren is 40%-50% of the general community, so efforts to educate schoolchildren are first and foremost. The purpose of this study is to know the level of dental and oral hygiene knowledge before and after being given education on class III SDN 12 Sesetan 2019. This type of research is a descriptive study. The total number of research respondents was 35 students. The percentage of dental and oral health care levels before an excellent category of 19 people (54.29%), a good category of knowledge of 4 (11,43%), a sufficient category of 9 (25.72%), a reduced knowledge rate of 2 (5.71%) and a failing rate of 1 person (2.85%). The percentage of the level of dental and oral knowledge after counseling was made by all excellent respondents is 100%. The average level of knowledge before this was given by 76 in good category and after it was given an enlightenment of 92.57 in very good category. The conclusion of this study is that the average knowledge before and after being given was enhanced. Key words: knowledge, dental and oral hygiene, counseling.
