Abstract

DIFFERENCES OF OBESITY STATUS BASED ON JUNK FOOD CONSUMPTION IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS SD NEGERI 3 SERANGAN DENPASAR CITY PROVINCE OF BALI ABSTRACT Obesity is excessive accumulation of fat in the body. Obesity occurs due to excess energy intake. Children with obesity may not necessarily have adequate nutrient. Nutrient adequacy is the amount of nutrients that are met from food depending on age, gender, activity, weight, height, and certain conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in obesity status based on junk food consumption in SD elementary school Negeri 3 Serangan Denpasar in Bali Province. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design. The location of the study was in SD Negeri 3 Serangan Denpasar, Bali Province which was carried out in January 2020. The population in this study were elementary school students of SD Negeri 3 Serangan Denpasar, Bali Province class 3rd, 4rd and 5rd with a sample 72 students. Data on obesity status of the sample was collected by measuring weight and height, junk food consumption was obtained through interviews using the SQ-FFQ questionnaire. Data were analyzed by the Independent t-test. The results showed 41.7% of the samples were obese, the average consumption of junk food is 719.2 kcal, 41.7% of the samples had higher than average junk food consumption. Statistical test results by the Independent t-test, the results obtained p-value> ɑ (p> 0.05) which means there is difference in obesity status based on junk food consumption not significant.
