Abstract
Indonesian public awareness especially elementary school children about dental and oral health is still very low, as a large number of students do not understand how to maintain healthy teeth and mouth. The purpose of this study in to know the description of the level of knowledge about how mountain dental and oral hygiene and Oral Hygiene index Simplified (OHI-S) student of class V. This study is a descriptive study with a total population of all students of the class V as many as 40 people. Types of data collected are primary data in the form of knowledge level as wellasindex of dental and oral hygiene secondary data in the form of a list of students of class V. The results of this study indicate that from 40 respondents, 21 people (52,50%) who have knowledge level enough, 32 people (80,00%) who had moderate oral hygiene. The average knowledge level of respondents is 67,75 with the enough category and the average of dental hygiene and mouth of respondents is 2,07 with medium criteria. The conclusion of this research is most of respondents have knowledge level with enough criterion as well as dental and mouth hygiene with medium criterion. Suggestions after research into the level of knowledge on how to maintain dental and oral hygiene and Orah Hygine index Simplified (OHI-S) are expected to increase the level of knowledge about dental and oral health and improve dental and oral hygiene.
