Abstract

Adolescence is a period that is vulnerable to psychological disorders such as anxiety, which can affect physiological functions, including the menstrual cycle. Irregular menstrual cycles in adolescent girls have the potential to affect reproductive health in the future. This study aimed to determine the relationship between anxiety and menstrual cycle patterns among adolescent girls at SMAN 2 Denpasar. This study employed an analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 84 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Anxiety data were measured using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) questionnaire, while menstrual cycle data were obtained through a questionnaire. The normality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov showed that the menstrual cycle variable was not normally distributed (p = 0.017), while the anxiety variable was normally distributed (p = 0.200) therefore, the relationship analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The results of the Spearman test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.464, indicating a significant relationship between anxiety and the menstrual cycle. It can be concluded that the higher the level of anxiety among adolescent girls, the greater the possibility of experiencing menstrual cycle disturbances. Future researchers are expected to expand the number of respondents, use more diverse measurement instruments, and provide interventions that can reduce anxiety in order to minimize menstrual cycle disturbances.. Masa remaja merupakan masa rentan terhadap gangguan psikologis seperti kecemasan yang dapat mempengaruhi fungsi fisiologis, termasuk siklus menstruasi. Ketidakteraturan siklus menstruasi pada remaja putri berpotensi berdampak pada kesehatan reproduksi di masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecemasan dengan siklus menstruasi pada remaja putri di SMAN 2 Denpasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik korelasi dengan pendekatan cross-sectional, melibatkan 84 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai April 2026. Data kecemasan diukur menggunakan kuesioner Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS), sedangkan data siklus menstruasi diperoleh melalui kuesioner. Uji normalitas data penelitian ini menggunakan Kolmogorov-Smirnov menunjukkan variabel siklus menstruasi tidak berdistribusi normal (p = 0,017) sedangkan variabel kecemasan berdistribusi normal (p = 0,200), sehingga analisis hubungan menggunakan uji Spearman Rank. Uji Spearman menunjukkan nilai p = 0,000 (p < 0,05) dengan koefisien korelasi 0,464 yang berarti terdapat hubungan signifikan antara kecemasan dengan siklus menstruasi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa jika remaja putri mengalami kecemasan, semakin besar terjadinya gangguan siklus menstruasi pada remaja putri. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, topik mengenai hubungan kecemasan dengan gangguan siklus menstruasi merupakan topik yang menarik dan masih relevan untuk diteliti lebih lanjut. Peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan dapat melibatkan jumlah responden yang lebih besar, menggunakan instrumen pengukuran yang lebih beragam dan spesifik, serta melakukan kategorisasi siklus menstruasi agar hasil penelitian dapat memberikan gambaran yang lebih spesifik.
