Abstract
THE CORRELATION BETWEEN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS AND DEGREE OF HYPERTENSION IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS AT KLINIK UTAMA JANTUNG HASNA MEDIKA KARANGASEM ABSTRACT Background hypertension is closely associated with lipid profile abnormalities, particularly elevated total cholesterol levels. Dyslipidemia may increase the risk of hypertension and contribute to cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension in hypertensive patients at Klinik Utama Jantung Hasna Medika Karangasem. The study was conducted from August to October 2025 with a population of 115 people and a sample of 54 participants. The method used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Total cholesterol levels were measured using the CHOD-PAP method, while hypertension grade was obtained from medical records and categorized accordingly. Statistical analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. The result showed that most respondents had borderline high cholesterol levels (40.7%) and grade 1 hypertension (50%). Respondents with normal cholesterol were mostly in the prehypertension category (53.8%), borderline high cholesterol was associated with grade 1 hypertension (63.6%), and high cholesterol was mostly found in grade 2 hypertension (52.6%). Spearman correlation analysis showed p < 0.001 with rs = 0.496. The conclusion shows a significant moderate positive correlation between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension. Dislipidemia dapat meningkatkan risiko hipertensi dan memperbesar kemungkinan terjadinya penyakit kardiovaskular. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis hubungan kadar kolesterol total dengan derajat hipertensi pada penderita hipertensi di Klinik Utama Jantung Hasna Medika Karangasem. Penelitian dilakukan pada Agustus–Oktober 2025 dengan populasi 115 orang dan sampel 54 orang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP, sedangkan derajat hipertensi diperoleh dari rekam medis dan diklasifikasikan sesuai kategori. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil responden sebagian besar memiliki kadar kolesterol dengan kategori batas tinggi (40,7%) dan derajat hipertensi dengan kategori hipertensi derajat 1 (50%). Responden dengan kadar kolesterol normal sebagian besar memiliki derajat hipertensi prehipertensi (53,8%), kadar kolesterol batas tinggi sebagian besar memiliki hipertensi derajat I (63,6%), Kadar kolesterol tinggi memiliki hipertensi derajat II (52,6%). Uji korelasi Spearman menunjukan hasil p <0,001 dan rs: 0,496. Simpulan hasil analisis menunjukkan hubungan positif yang signifikan dengan kekuatan sedang antara kadar kolesterol total dan derajat hipertensi.
