Abstract
Lack of knowledge of maintaining dental and oral health is the basis of dental or oral health factors or behaviors as one of the causes of oral and dental health problems. One way to measure or assess dental and oral hygiene is with the OHI-S. School age groups are susceptible to dental and oral health problems and require methods and approaches to obtain healthy knowledge, attitudes and behavior. This study aims to describe the knowledge of tooth brushing and the OHI-S for grade IV and V students of SD Negeri 7 Sumerta, East Denpasar District, 2019. The method of this research is descriptive method. The number of respondents in this study were 73 students. The results of this study indicate that students who have knowledge of brushing teeth with the average knowledge brushed teeth 59.53 with less criteria. Students who have OHI-S with the average score of OHI-S 2 , 19 with moderate criteria. The average OHI-S student is based on knowledge about brushing teeth with a very good category of 1 person (0.66), good criteria 11 people (0.96), enough criteria 36 people (2.03), criteria for less than 15 people (2 , 87) and criteria for failure of 10 people (3.27). The results of this study indicate that the worse the students' knowledge about brushing their teeth, the worse the cleanliness of their teeth and mouth.
