Abstract
Nutrition problem in Indonesia is still considered high there are many toddlers in Indonesia who experience energy and protein deficiency. The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is still relatively low. Bali Province has not yet reached the target, the lowest is scored by Denpasar City which is Puskesmas II Denpasar selatan. This study is to find out the description of knowledge based on mothers’ characteristics in exclusive breastfeeding for babies in Puskesmas II Denpasar selatan. This study is a descriptive study with cross-sectional approach. The population of this study are every mothers with babies in Puskesmas II Denpasar Selatan area. The samples were 76 respondents who were selected by applying non-probability sampling technique. The primary data is collected by using questionnaire. The result showed that breastfeeding mothers based on the age of 20-35 years who have a good knowledges are 65,7%, mothers with moderate educations and good knowledges are 38,7%, based on parity, mostly (51,8%) have good knowledges on multiparity, most of breastfeeding mothers who work on private sector (36,8%) have good knowledges. The concluded that most of breastfeeding mothers have good knowledges about Exclusive Breastfeeding Keywords: Characteristics; Exclusive Breastfeeding; Knowledge.
