Abstract
Improving oral health and mouth is one of the efforts made in the care of oral and dental health early on. The right and correct brushing behavior is carried out diligently, thoroughly and regularly. The level of dental and oral hygiene can be accounted for by an index, the Simple Oral Hygiene Index (OHIS). The easiest way to do this is to keep your teeth and mouth clean by brushing your teeth. This study aims to study tooth brushing behavior and the level of dental and oral hygiene in pregnant women at Rendang Health Center in 2019. This research is a descriptive study. The 30 respondents were mostly 11 people (36.67%) teeth brushing behavior in the good category, and 9 people (30%), with the category needing guidance, 6 people (20%), and only 4 people (13.33%) , with a very good category. The frequency of OHI-S based on the policy of brushing teeth for pregnant women who brush their teeth is very good category, there are only those who have good OHI-S criteria, pregnant women who brush their teeth in a good number of teeth brushing need guidance, most have OHIcriteria S criteria are bad. Conclusions from the results of the study that united the most teeth in good criteria and had OHI-S with moderate criteria. Most pregnant women who have tooth brushing behavior need an average level of poor OHI-S guidance Keywords: tooth brushing habits, oral and dental hygiene, pregnant women.
