Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN ELDERLY AT LUWUS VILLAGE BATURITI TABANAN ABSTRACT Old age is a stage that is passed by individuals. The older a person is, it can cause degenerative diseases. One of the degenerative diseases is total cholesterol. Cholesterol is the formation of essential substances such as bile acids which are made by the liver. High cholesterol levels are a serious problem, because they are a risk factor for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes mellitus, stroke and high cholesterol. The research objective was to determine total cholesterol levels in the elderly in Luwus Baturiti Village, Tabanan. This research is a descriptive study using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with 43 elderly female and male respondents aged 45-49 years. The results of the study on respondents obtained normal cholesterol levels as much as 51%, quite high as much as 33%, and high cholesterol levels as much as 16%. Normal total cholesterol levels in the elderly are dominant in the elderly aged 45-49 years, namely 26%, 28% male, 35% working, and the category of food intake with cholesterol is once a day and ≥ once a day by 26%. Majority of elderly have a normal total cholesterol level. Keywords: elderly; total cholesterol levels.   GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA LANSIA DI DESA LUWUS BATURITI TABANAN ABSTRAK Lanjut usia merupakan tahapan yang dilewati oleh individu. Semakin tua seseorang maka dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya penyakit degeneratif. Salah satu penyakit degeneratif yaitu kolesterol total. Kolesterol merupakan pembentukan zat esensial seperti asam empedu yang dibuat oleh organ hati. Kadar kolesterol tinggi adalah persoalan serius, karena menjadi faktor risiko terjadinya Penyakit Tidak Menular (PTM) seperti diabetes melitus, stroke dan kolesterol. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kadar kolesterol total pada lansia di Desa Luwus Baturiti Tabanan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif menggunakan metode pemeriksaan Point of Care Testing (POCT). Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling dengan 43 responden lansia perempuan dan laki-laki berumur 45-49 tahun. Hasil penelitian pada responden didapatkan kadar kolesterol normal sebanyak 51%, cukup tinggi sebanyak 33%, dan kadar kolesterol tinggi sebanyak 16%. Kadar kolesterol total normal pada lansia dominan pada lansia berumur 45-49 tahun yaitu 26%, jenis kelamin laki-laki 28%, yang bekerja sebanyak 35%, dan kategori asupan makanan berkoles terol yaitu 1 kali per hari dan ≥ 1 kali per hari sebanyak 26 %. Kadar kolesterol total lansia sebagian besar termasuk dalam kategori normal. Kata kunci : lansia; kadar kolesterol total
