Abstract
THE EFFECT OF HEALTH EDUCATION THROUGH WHATSAPP GROUPS ON STUDENT PREPAREDNESS IN DEALING WITH VOLCANIC DISASTERS AT SMAN 1 RENDANG ABSTRACT Volcanic eruptions are natural disasters that always hit all parts of Indonesia. The last time a volcanic eruption in Bali occurred in 2017 with a total number of refugees reaching 59,820 people. Volcanic disasters can cause casualties, environmental damage, property losses and psychological impacts. Efforts that can be made to overcome the impact of the disaster is to increase disaster preparedness. This study aims to determine the effect of health education through whatsapp groups on student preparedness in dealing with volcanic disasters. This type of research is a Quasi Experimental Design with the design used is One-Group pretest-posttest using simple random sampling technique. The number of samples is 40 people. Data was collected using a volcanic disaster preparedness questionnaire. The results showed that the average score of student preparedness before treatment was 54.32 and after treatment was 88.34 with an average difference before and after treatment of 34.02. The results of the study were tested with a paired t-test statistic, the p-value = 0.000 (<alpha: 0.05), it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education through whatsapp groups on students' preparedness in dealing with volcanic disasters at SMAN 1 Rendang. Kejadian bencana letusan gunung berapi di Bali terakhir kali terjadi pada tahun 2017 dengan total jumlah pengungsi mencapai 59.820 orang. Bencana gunung berapi dapat mengakibatkan timbulnya korban jiwa, kerusakan lingkungan, kerugian harta benda dan dampak psikologis. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menanggulangi dampak yang ditimbulkan dari bencana tersebut adalah meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh health education melalui whatsapp group terhadap kesiapsiagaan siswa dalam menghadapi bencana gunung berapi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Quasi Experimental Design dengan rancangan yang digunakan yaitu One-Group pretest-posttest menggunakan Teknik simple random sampling. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 40 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner kesiapsiagaan bencana gunung berapi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa skor rata-rata kesiapsiagaan siswa sebelum perlakuan 54,32 dan setelah perlakuan sebesar 88,34 dengan selisih rata-rata sebelum dan setelah perlakuan sebesar 34,02. Hasil penelitian diuji dengan uji statistic paired t-test didapatkan nilai p-value = 0,000 (< alpha: 0,05), maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh health education melalui whatsapp group terhadap kesiapsiagaan siswa dalam menghadapi bencana gunung berapi di SMAN 1 Rendang.
