Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting related with the pattern of giving food especially for the first 2 years in life, that is breast milk and additional food (MP-ASI) that could affect the health status of a baby. The purpose of this research is to know the relations between the exclusive breastfeeding with the happen of stunting in area of Puskesmas Buleleng III. This type of research correlational analytic with structure Cross Sectional. Technique of withdraw the sample that is used Consecutive Sampling method. Amount of sample used 35 respondent. The data analyzed using Fisher Exact. The result of the research found that more that a half female baby (54.3%), mostly mother's education only until senior high school (45.7%) and unemployed mother (60%). The babies that get exclusive breastfeeding for 40% and non-exclusive about 60%. Number of baby with stunting status is 11,4% and normal staus is 88,6%. Results has shown correlation test p value 0,133 (p > 0,05), that mean is no relation between breastfeeding with the happen of stunting in area Puskesmas Buleleng III. There is no significant effect on exclusive breastfeeding to prevent stunting on a baby. Exclusive breastfeeding is not the only factor that is contributed with the happen of stunting with baby. Researchers suggest the need for improving the nutritional status since the preconception period, during pregnancy, as well as during periods of growth of the child to be able to decrease the incidence of stunting. Keywords: Exclusive Breastfeeding, Stunting, Nutrient Status ABSTRAK Stunting erat kaitannya dengan pola pemberian makanan terutama pada 2 tahun pertama kehidupan berupa air susu ibu (ASI) dan makanan pendamping (MP-ASI) yang dapat mempengaruhi status gizi balita. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pemberian ASI Eksklusif dengan kejadian stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Buleleng III. Jenis Peneltian ini adalah Analitik Korelasional dengan rancangan Cross Sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan metode Consecutive Sampling. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 35 responden. Hasil penelitian didapatkan lebih dari setengah balita berjenis kelamin perempuan (54,3%), pendidikan ibu balita sebagian besar SMA (45,7%), dan 60% ibu balita tidak bekerja. Balita yang mendapatkan ASI Eksklusif sebesar 40% dan balita tidak ASI Eksklusif 60%. Jumlah balita yang berstatus gizi stunting sebesar 11,4% dan balita yang normal 88,6% dan hasil uji Fisher Exact menunjukan p value = 0,133 (p > 0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulakan tidak ada hubungan antara pemberian ASI Eksklusif dengan kejadian stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Buleleng III. Disarankan perlunya perbaikan status gizi sejak masa prekonsepsi, selama kehamilan, serta selama periode pertumbuhan anak untuk mampu menurunkan kejadian stunting.
