Abstract
Pneumonia is an infectious disease that affects the lower respiratory tract with signs and symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. The mortality rate due to pneumonia is quite high, so proper treatment is needed. Nurses are expected to be able to plan appropriate and innovative non-pharmacological treatments such as chest physiotherapy and pursed lips breathing. The purpose of writing this scientific paper is to find out nursing care for pneumonia patients with ineffective airway clearance in the ER Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar in 2021. The method used in this scientific paper is a descriptive method with a case study approach to two clients. The results of the case study showed that after being given nursing care for 1x2 hours, the results in patient 1 and patient 2 showed that the patient really had pneumonia based on the assessment, lab results and chest x-ray, with the problem of airway clearance being partially resolved after being given the main nursing intervention ( effective coughing exercises, respiration monitoring) and innovation interventions (chest physiotherapy, pursed lips breathing, patients say they feel a change after being given the intervention. In conclusion, chest physiotherapy and pursed lips breathing can provide benefits to overcome the problem of ineffective airway clearance in pneumonia patients, so it is expected nurses can perform therapy on an ongoing basis.
