Abstract
ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY ON PAPAYA SEEDS ETHANOL EXTRACT WITH VARIOUS CONCENTRATIONS TOWARDS Klebsiella pneumoniae BACTERIA GROWTH ABSTRACT Klebsiella pneumoniae is pathogen bacterias that causes infections that experiences resistance.This resistance case, need to exploration new products based on natural ingredients one of them is papaya seeds. Papaya seeds contains flavonoid, alkaloid, tannin, phenol and quinone. This experiment’s purpose is to observe the antibacterial activities on papaya seeds ethanol extract with various concentrations towards Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria growth. The type of experiment used true experiment with posttest only control group design using Kirby-Bauer diffusion discs method on four concentrations (20%, 40%, 60% and 80%),work controls (Ciprofloxacin 5µg) and negatif control (96% ethanol). The result showed that the average diameter of inhibition zone of papaya seeds ethanol extract at concentration 20% is 7,9 mm, 40% is 9,5 mm, 60% is 11,9 mmand 80% is 13,4 mm. These four concentration have medium until strong inhibition potential. Statistic analysis with One Way Anova and Least Significant Difference the value of p(0,000)<α(0,05). This examination showed thatantibacterial activity of ethanol extract of papaya seeds with various concentrations (20%, 40%, 60% and 80%) was difference in towards the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria. Adanya kasus resistensi tersebut, diperlukan eksplorasi produk baru berbasis bahan alam salah satunya biji buah pepaya. Biji buah pepaya mengandung flavonoid, alkaloid, tanin, fenol dan kuinon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol biji buah pepayadengan variasi konsentrasi terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae. Jenispenelitian yang digunakanadalah eksperimen murni dengan rancangan posttest only control group design menggunakan metode difusi cakram Kirby-Bauer dengan empat konsentrasi (20%, 40%, 60% dan 80%), Kontrol kerja (Ciprofloxacin 5µg) dan Kontrol negatif (etanol 96%). Hasil yang didapatkan rerata diameter zona hambat ekstrak etanol biji buah pepaya konsentrasi 20% yaitu 7,9 mm, 40%yaitu 9,5 mm, 60% yaitu 11,9 mm dan konsentrasi 80% yaitu 13,4 mm. Keempat konsentrasi ini dikategorikan memiliki daya hambat yang sedang hingga kuat. Analisis statistik baik dengan uji One Way Anovamaupun Least Significant Differencedidapatkan nilai p (0,000)<α(0,05). Hal ini menunjukan adanya perbedaan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol biji buah pepaya dengan berbagai konsentras i(20%, 40%, 60% dan 80%) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae.
