Abstract
This condition can disrupt the formation of prenatal attachment, which is the emotional bond between the mother and the fetus and serves as an important foundation for child development and the quality of the mother-infant relationship postpartum. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal anxiety and prenatal attachment in third-trimester pregnant women This research employed a cross-sectional correlation design with 36 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a modified anxiety questionnaire (PRAQ-R2-EPDS, 11 items, r=0.404–0.834, α=0.842) and the Prenatal Attachment Inventory ((PAI, 21 items, r=0.370–0.777, α=0.878), both valid and reliable, and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that more than half of the third-trimester pregnant women (52.8%) were in the severe anxiety category, and the highest distribution of prenatal attachment was in the low category (52.8%). There was a significant relationship between the level of maternal anxiety and prenatal attachment (p = 0.020; 95% CI: 0.035–0.641), indicating that the higher the mother's anxiety, the lower the prenatal attachment. Optimization of mental health screening and anxiety management education in integrated antenatal care services needs to be improved to support the quality of prenatal attachment among third-trimester pregnant women.
