Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BREASTFEEDING SELF-EFFICACY AND THE SUCCESS OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING AMONG BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS AT UPTD PUSKESMAS II DENPASAR UTARA ABSTRACT The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara is still low (65.3%). One of the key determining factors is the psychological aspect, specifically breastfeeding self-efficacy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and the success of exclusive breastfeeding among breastfeeding mothers at UPTD Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara. This was a quantitative correlational analytic study employing a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 61 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 7–11 months, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using the BSES-SF questionnaire and an exclusive breastfeeding success questionnaire, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 52.5% of respondents had high breastfeeding self-efficacy, yet 57.4% failed to provide exclusive breastfeeding. Statistical testing demonstrated a significant relationship between breastfeeding self-efficacy and the success of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.000). All mothers (100%) with low self-efficacy failed to provide exclusive breastfeeding, whereas 81.3% of mothers with high self-efficacy successfully maintained exclusive breastfeeding. In conclusion, a mother's self-confidence greatly determines the success of exclusive breastfeeding; therefore, health workers are expected to integrate self-efficacy stimulation into lactation education programs. Salah satu penentunya adalah aspek psikologis berupa efikasi diri menyusui. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan efikasi diri menyusui dengan keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif pada ibu menyusui di UPTD Puskesmas II Denpasar Utara. Jenis penelitian ini kuantitatif analitik korelasional menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel berjumlah 61 ibu menyusui yang memiliki bayi usia 7–11 bulan, dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Pengumpulan data memakai kuesioner BSES-SF dan kuesioner keberhasilan ASI eksklusif, lalu dianalisis dengan uji Chi-Square. Hasil menunjukkan 52,5% responden memiliki efikasi diri tinggi, namun 57,4% tidak berhasil memberikan ASI eksklusif. Hasil uji statistik membuktikan adanya hubungan signifikan antara efikasi diri menyusui dengan keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif (p-value = 0,000). Seluruh ibu (100%) dengan efikasi diri rendah gagal memberikan ASI eksklusif, sedangkan 81,3% ibu dengan efikasi diri tinggi sukses mempertahankan ASI eksklusif. Kesimpulannya, keyakinan diri ibu sangat menentukan kesuksesan pemberian ASI eksklusif, sehingga tenaga kesehatan diharapkan mengintegrasikan stimulasi efikasi diri dalam program edukasi laktasi.
