Abstract

DIFFERENCE IN PLATELET COUNT BASED ON EXAMINATION TIME AT ROOM TEMPERATURE ABSTRACT Background: Platelet count examination is an important part of hematology testing to support the diagnosis of various clinical conditions. One pre-analytical factor that may influence the results is the timing of blood sample analysis. Delays in examination can potentially cause changes in platelets, thereby affecting the results obtained. Objective: To determine the differences in platelet counts based on examination time at room temperature, namely immediate examination (0 hours), and delays of one, two, and three hours. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one group repeated measure design using a purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 7 fourth-year students of the Bachelor of Applied Medical Laboratory Technology Program at Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and One-Way ANOVA. Results: The data were normally distributed and homogeneous (p > 0.05). The One-Way ANOVA test showed no significant difference in platelet counts between immediate examination (0 hours) and delays of one, two, and three hours (p > 0.05). However, descriptively, there was a tendency for the mean platelet count to decrease as the examination time increased. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in platelet counts up to a three-hour delay at room temperature; however, examinations are still recommended to be performed as soon as possible to maintain result accuracy. Keywords: platelets; examination time; room temperature PERBEDAAN JUMLAH TROMBOSIT BERDASARKAN WAKTU PEMERIKSAAN PADA SUHU KAMAR ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Pemeriksaan jumlah trombosit merupakan bagian penting dalam pemeriksaan hematologi untuk membantu diagnosis berbagai kondisi klinis. Salah satu faktor yang dapat memengaruhi hasil pemeriksaan adalah waktu pemeriksaan sampel darah pada tahap pra-analitik. Penundaan pemeriksaan berpotensi menyebabkan perubahan pada trombosit sehingga dapat memengaruhi hasil yang diperoleh. Tujuan: Mengetahui perbedaan jumlah trombosit berdasarkan waktu pemeriksaan pada suhu kamar, yaitu pemeriksaan segera (0 jam), penundaan satu jam, dua jam, dan tiga jam. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experimental dengan rancangan one group repeated measure design menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel terdiri dari 7 mahasiswa Tingkat IV Program Studi Sarjana Terapan Teknologi Laboratorium Medis Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar. Analisis data menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk dan uji One-Way ANOVA. Hasil: Data berdistribusi normal dan homogen (p > 0,05). Hasil uji One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada jumlah trombosit antara pemeriksaan segera (0 jam), penundaan satu jam, dua jam, dan tiga jam (p > 0,05). Meskipun demikian, secara deskriptif terdapat kecenderungan penurunan nilai rerata jumlah trombosit seiring bertambahnya waktu pemeriksaan. Simpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan jumlah trombosit berdasarkan waktu pemeriksaan hingga tiga jam pada suhu kamar, namun pemeriksaan tetap disarankan dilakukan sesegera mungkin untuk menjaga keakuratan hasil.
