Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS WITH DEGREE AND DURATION OF HYPERTENSION IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS AT PURI RAHARJA HOSPITAL ABSTRACT Background High cholesterol levels in the blood are one of the causes of hypertension. This occurs due to blockages or atherosclerosis, which lead to vasoconstriction of peripheral blood vessels. An increase in blood viscosity can cause the heart to work harder, so the heart must exert more effort to supply oxygen throughout the body. Objective to determine the relationship between total cholesterol levels with the degree and duration of hypertension in hypertensive patients at Puri Raharja General Hospital. Method this research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design, involving 43 respondents selected using a non probability sampling technique with purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaire distribution, blood pressure measurements, duration of hypertension, and total cholesterol examination using the CHOD-PAP method. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation test. Results the study showed that out of 43 respondents, 37.2% had high cholesterol levels, 32.6% were in the hypertension grade 3 category, and 37.2% had a long duration of suffering from hypertension. The Spearman correlation analysis showed a significance value of <0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Conclusion there is a relationship between total cholesterol levels with the degree and duration of hypertension in hypertensive patients at Puri Raharja General Hospital. HUBUNGAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL DENGAN DERAJAT DAN LAMA MENDERITA HIPERTENSI PADA PASIEN HIPERTENSI DI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM PURI RAHARJA ABSTRAK Latar Belakang Kadar kolesterol yang tinggi pada darah ialah salah satu penyebab hipertensi. Hal ini terjadi karena penyumbatan atau aterosklerosis yang menyebabkan pembuluh darah perifer mengalami vasokonstriksi. Peningkatan indeks kekentalan atau viskositas darah dapat mengakibatkan jantung bekerja lebih berat, maka dari itu kinerja jantung harus lebih keras agar dapat menyuplai oksigen ke seluruh tubuh. Tujuan mengetahui hubungan antara kadar kolesterol total dengan derajat dan lama menderita hipertensi pada pasien hipertensi di Rumah Sakit Umum Puri Raharja. Metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional, terdiri dari 43 responden dengan teknik non-probability sampling dengan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, pengisian kuisioner, pengukuran tekanan, lama menderita hipertensi, serta pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total dengan menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, dari 43 responden, 37,2% memiliki kadar kolesterol dalam kategori tinggi, 32,6% memiliki derajat hipertensi dalam kategori hipertensi derajat 3 dan lama menderita hipertensi berada dalam kategori panjang yaitu 37,2%. Dari analisis korelasi spearman menunjukan nilai sig <0,05 sehingga Ha diterima. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan antara kadar kolesterol total dengan derajat dan lama menderita hipertensi pada pasien hipertensi di Rumah Sakit Umum Puri Raharja.
