Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN ACTIVE SMOKERS IN BANJAR KAWAN, TIMUHUN VILLAGE, BANJARANGKAN DISTRICT, KLUNGKUNG REGENCY ABSTRACT Background: Smoking habits have a negative impact on blood vessel health by causing narrowing in various parts of the body. Harmful substances in cigarette smoke, such as carbon monoxide (CO) and nicotine can narrow blood vessels, damage vessel walls, and accelerate atherosclerosis which causes total cholesterol levels in the blood to increase. Objective: This study aims to determine the description of total cholesterol levels in active smokers in Banjar Kawan, Timuhun Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency. Method: This study used a descriptive design with a sample of 43 active smokers who were of productive age (15–64 years). Samples were obtained through purposive sampling technique with a door-to-door approach. Data collection was carried out using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method with the Autocheck tool. Results: The results showed that most active smokers had borderline total cholesterol levels in the 19-59 year age group, with the number of cigarettes consumed per day of 11-20 cigarettes, and the duration of smoking >10 years. Conclusion: Most active smokers in Banjar Kawan have borderline total cholesterol levels, with a higher prevalence in the 19-59 age group, the number of cigarettes consumed is 11-20, and the duration of smoking is >10 years. GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DI BANJAR KAWAN DESA TIMUHUN KECAMATAN BANJARANGKAN KABUPATEN KLUNGKUNG ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Kebiasaan merokok berdampak buruk terhadap kesehatan pembuluh darah dengan menyebabkan penyempitan di berbagai bagian tubuh. Zat berbahaya dalam asap rokok, seperti karbon monoksida (CO) dan nikotin dapat mempersempit pembuluh darah, merusak dinding pembuluh, serta mempercepat aterosklerosis yang menyebabkan kadar kolesterol total dalam darah meningkat. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada perokok aktif di Banjar Kawan, Desa Timuhun, Kecamatan Banjarangkan, Kabupaten Klungkung. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif dengan sampel sebanyak 43 orang perokok aktif yang berada pada usia produktif (15–64 tahun). Sampel diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan pendekatan door-to-door. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan metode Point of Care Testing (POCT) dengan alat Autocheck. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar perokok aktif memiliki kadar kolesterol total borderline pada kelompok usia 19-59 tahun, dengan jumlah rokok yang dikonsumsi per hari 11-20 batang, dan lamanya merokok >10 tahun. Simpulan: Sebagian besar perokok aktif di Banjar Kawan memiliki kadar kolesterol total borderline, dengan prevalensi lebih besar pada kelompok usia 19-59 tahun, jumlah rokok yang dikonsumsi 11-20 batang, serta lamanya merokok >10 tahun. Kata Kunci: Perokok Aktif, Kolesterol Total, POCT.
