Abstract

THE EFFECT OF ECO ENZYME ON SEAWATER QUALITY AS AN EFFORT TO CONTROL MARINE POLLUTION A Case Study at Sanur Beach, Denpasar ABSTRACT Sea water pollution is increasingly complex, especially in the Sanur Beach area, Denpasar, which is a coastal area with high tourism and residential activities. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test group design, in which seawater quality was measured before and after the treatment with eco enzyme. The results showed a decrease in pH from 6.77 to 5.5, indicating an increase in seawater acidity. The TSS (Total Suspended Solids) value significantly increased from 23.86 mg/L to 58.57 mg/L, indicating a rise in water turbidity. Meanwhile, the salinity value decreased from 3.94 ppt to 3.04 ppt. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank statistical test showed that all three parameters experienced statistically significant changes (p < 0.001). However, among the three parameters, only the decrease in salinity was considered a positive effect. This suggests that eco enzyme has not yet demonstrated optimal effectiveness in improving seawater quality. Therefore, further studies are recommended, including the modification of eco enzyme formulation for marine environments and toxicity testing on aquatic organisms. Keywords: Eco enzyme, pH, TSS, Salinity, Seawater Quality, Marine Pollution PENGARUH ECO ENZYME TERHADAP KUALITAS AIR LAUT SEBAGAI UPAYA PENGENDALIAN PENCEMARAN Studi dilakukan di Pantai Sanur Denpasar ABSTRAK Pencemaran air laut yang semakin kompleks, khususnya di kawasan Pantai Sanur, Denpasar, yang merupakan wilayah pesisir dengan aktivitas wisata dan pemukiman yang tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan pre-test post-test group design, di mana dilakukan pengukuran kualitas air laut sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan menggunakan eco enzyme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan nilai pH dari 6,77 menjadi 5,5, yang mengindikasikan peningkatan keasaman air laut. Nilai TSS meningkat signifikan dari 23,86 mg/L menjadi 58,57 mg/L, menunjukkan peningkatan kekeruhan air. Sementara itu, nilai salinitas mengalami penurunan dari 3,94 ppt menjadi 3,04 ppt. Uji statistik Wilcoxon Signed Rank menunjukkan ketiga parameter mengalami perubahan yang signifikan (p < 0,001). Namun, dari ketiga parameter tersebut, hanya penurunan salinitas yang dianggap sebagai efek positif. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa eco enzyme belum menunjukkan efektivitas optimal dalam meningkatkan kualitas air laut. Oleh karena itu, disarankan penelitian lanjutan dilakukan dengan modifikasi formulasi eco enzyme untuk lingkungan laut serta uji toksisitas terhadap biota air.
