Abstract

OVERVIEW OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION AT PUSKESMAS I DENPASAR BARAT ABSTRACT Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that often occurs in the elderly and is at risk of causing serious complications such as stroke and heart disease. One of the factors affecting hypertension is total cholesterol levels in the blood. This study aims to determine the description of total cholesterol levels in elderly people with hypertension at Puskesmas I West Denpasar. The type of research used is descriptive. The sample amounted to 38 elderly people with hypertension who were selected using incidental sampling technique. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and laboratory examination of total cholesterol levels using the CHOD-PAP method. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of tables and percentages. The results showed that most respondents had total cholesterol levels in the normal category (150-220 mg/dL), but there were also respondents with high levels (>220 mg/dL), especially in the elderly with excess body mass index (BMI) and obesity, as well as in elderly women. This shows that there is no significant relationship between cholesterol levels and high blood pressure (hypertension). Keywords : Total Cholesterol, Hypertension, Elderly, Body Mass Index (BMI), CHOD-PAP GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA LANSIA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS I DENPASAR BARAT ABSTRAK Hipertensi merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang sering terjadi pada lansia dan berisiko menyebabkan komplikasi serius seperti stroke dan penyakit jantung. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi hipertensi adalah kadar kolesterol total dalam darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada lansia penderita hipertensi di Puskesmas I Denpasar Barat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Sampel berjumlah 38 orang lansia penderita hipertensi yang dipilih menggunakan teknik insidental sampling. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, serta pemeriksaan laboratorium kadar kolesterol total menggunakan metode CHOD-PAP. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki kadar kolesterol total dalam kategori normal (150–220 mg/dL), namun terdapat pula responden dengan kadar tinggi (>220 mg/dL), terutama pada lansia dengan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) berlebih dan obesitas, juga pada lansia perempuan, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar kolesterol dengan tekanan darah tinggi (hipertensi).
