Abstract

Indonesia hasn't been free from underweight toodlers. The purpose of this study was to describe the socio-economic factors of underweight toddlers in the Dawan sub-district. This is descriptive observational study was conducted at the clinic where children under five were registered in the Dawan sub-district in March-April 2022. The research instrument used an interview guide. The number of samples were 40 people who were selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that the highest education level for parents of children under five and very underweight was secondary education, namely 77.8% and 75%, respectively. The actions of parents regarding monitoring the growth of their children every month were mostly in parents with under-five and very underweight children, namely 97.2% and 100%, respectively. The actions of parents of toddlers with low and very low body weight who did not fulfill nutrition were 55.6% and 100%, respectively. The highest economic level for parents of children under five with low and very low body weight is less, namely 63.9% and 75%, respectively. Suggestions for increasing educational outreach about nutrition fulfillment in the community so that public understanding about nutrition fulfillment increases.
