Abstract
RELATIONSHIP OF SODIUM CONSUMPTION LEVELS AND STRESS LEVELS WITH BLOOD PRESSURE OF ELDERLY WITH HYPERTENSION IN THE WORKING AREA OF BEBANDEM HEALTH CENTER KARANGASEM REGENCY ABSTRACT High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the problems of non-communicable diseases that are the main focus to be treated at this time. In addition to its high prevalence and tends to increase, it is also due to the degree of seriousness of this disease that can cause the onset of other diseases such as heart disease, stroke, even death. One of the factors that affect the morbidity and mortality rate of people with hypertension is the level of sodium consumption and stress levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sodium consumption levels and stress levels with the blood pressure of the elderly with hypertension in the Bebandem Health Center Working Area, Karangasem Regency. This type of research is descriptive with a "cross sectional" design. Sampling technique by means of non probability sampling with consecutive sampling. The sample size is 42 elderly. Data collection was carried out by interviews using a 1x24-hour food recall form, stress levels with a DASS 42 questionnaire, and sample identities. The data were processed with statistical analysis of Spearman Rank correlation. The results of this study obtained sodium consumption in the category of more than 23 elderly (54.8%). Meanwhile, for stress levels, as many as 24 elderly (57.1%) in the normal category and 3 elderly (7.1%) moderate stress. Most of the samples were people with hypertension with uncontrolled blood pressure, namely 24 samples (57.1%). There is a relationship between the level of sodium consumption and the blood pressure value p=0.002 (<0.05). There is a relationship between stress level and blood pressure value p=0.013 (<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the level of sodium consumption and stress levels with the blood pressure of the elderly with hypertension in the Bebandem Health Center Working Area, Karangasem Regency.
